President Barack Obama said Sony "made a mistake" when the company decided to pull its "satirical movie" The Interview in the face of what investigators believe was a hack of the company's computer systems by North Korea. President Obama opens his news conference talking about how 2014 was - as promised - a "year of action." He then pivots to the economy. The American economy is, arguably, booming. He's mentioning the oil boom and the news today about more money being recovered after the auto bailout.

Obama on Sony - they're a corporation and they can do what they want to do, but... He also says he hopes Congress can pass a cyber security bill. He should call his home state senator, Dick Durbin, a privacy advocate, about that.

Obama gives a long and thoughtful answer on Sony. He says if a "satricial movie" can cause this level of angst for a company, imagine what a documentary can do.

His rhetoric on this is suprising. He compares Sony pulling the movie to Boston not running its marathon any more.

Without giving anything away, Obama says the U.S. "will respond." And he says it will be in-kind. Not sure what the movie industry in North Korea is like.

Next question from press is on tax reform. Obama says he's optimistic it will happen, and after talking to House Speaker John bohener and soon-to-be Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnel, they are "serious about wanting to get something done."

One person President Obama won't have to worry about when he returns from his vacation in Hawaii is Michele Bachmann. She's leaving Congress and (in addition to a weird rap of Thrift Shop), she said some really interesting and thoughtful things about sexism in politics to CNN's Dana Bash. We'll embed that above. And it's worth noting, Obama did not call on a man during this presser. We're not sure, but we think that's a first.
