Among them are the nominations for John Kerry for secretary of state, former Sen. Chuck Hagel for defense secretary, Jack Lew for treasury secretary and John Brennan for CIA director.
He has previously announced his intention to nominate all four.
The president will also sign a proclamation declaring today (inauguration day) as National Day of Hope and Resolve, 2013.

Obama will take the oath of office on the platform today, but he already began his second term. Per the Constitution, he took the oath yesterday at the White House in a short ceremony which lasted about two minutes. Today's program has the pomp and circumstance, the president's inaugural address and will be longer.
CNN Contributor Alex Castellanos describes this political convergence on the platform as akin to a family which gathers for Thanksgiving dinner.
